New Personalized Medicine Storyboard Focuses on Genetic Tests in Use Today
July 16, 2008 — A new Results for Life storyboard on personalized medicine highlights genetic tests that are already helping provide more effective diagnosis and treatment for patients with a wide range of conditions. These include breast, ovarian, colon, and cervical cancer, heart disease, cardiovascular disease, and emphysema, among others.
Entitled "Lab Tests and Personalized Medicine: It’s All About You," the storyboard also provides a plain-English explanation of how genetic tests facilitate personalized medicine at various stages of diagnosis and treatment. In addition, it features three “mini case-studies” on how personalized medicine translates into better health for patients with cardiovascular conditions, breast cancer, and hereditary hemochromatosis.
