RFL joins with Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association for Capitol Hill "Heart Health Expo"

On June 9, RFL teamed-up with the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association (SCAA), the American Heart Association, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, among others, to sponsor the "Heart Health Expo" on Capitol Hill. The event showcased for Members of Congress the many aspects of maintaining heart health, including the primary role of laboratory tests.

In addition to meeting with Members of Congress and staff who visited the RFL booth, Results for Life staff provided the following information and materials:
  • A backgrounder that highlighted laboratory tests used in identifying and managing heart disease.

  • The RFL storyboard on heart attack, "Lab Tests for Heart Attack: Enabling Accurate Diagnosis and Targeted Treatment."

  • A June 8, 2009, OpEd by Rep. Lois Capps (D-CA) published in the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call that focused on heart health and identified the importance of lab testing in particular.

  • A joint SCAA-RFL news feature on sudden cardiac arrest in young people and the role of lab testing in identifying Long QT Syndrome, which can lead to sudden cardiac arrest.

  • A New Hampshire Public Television program on the genetic test for Long QT Syndrome, an inherited heart disorder.
