Hill Ad Lauds Value of Lab Tests in Health Reform
With the headline "Lab Tests Were Health Reform Before Health Reform Was Cool," an RFL newspaper advertisement on April 24 underscored to an influential Capitol hill audience that lab testing is central to achieving key goals of health reform. "Prevention, wellness, curbing the high cost of healthcare, attacking chronic disease…many of the central goals of health reform are being achieved through lab testing," said the ad, which ran in The Hill. "A few dollars spent on a simple blood test can help avoid painful, life-shortening illnesses, lengthy hospitalizations, and expensive, invasive medical procedures."
The ad emphasized the significant economic savings that can come about through lab testing by citing the high costs of diabetes versus the low cost of a lab test to identify the early signs of diabetes.
